A video that went viral on social media captured the moment when the deceased was buried in a grave flooded with dirty water.
The deceased, a woman, seems to have been buried in the village due to the circumstances seen in the video.
The last funeral procession was not attended by many mourners as the deceased, identified as Mgbede Okereke Igboko, was buried.
Two men folded their pants to receive the body in the grave
Two men were already inside the grave, waiting to receive Okereke’s body when they finished the burial.
They folded their pants because of the dirty water in the grave as they prepared to lower the coffin.
A group of young people joined together to lift the wooden coffin and hand it over to the men inside the grave, making their work easier.
They carefully carried the casket, paying their last respects to the deceased.
Men stepped on the coffin to leave the grave
The two men who were in the grave slowly lowered the coffin and placed it on the ground, although part of it continued to sink in the dirty water.
After they finished, they faced the challenge of getting out of the tomb, and without any help, they stepped on the coffin to pull themselves out.
They did not cover the grave with soil even though a mountain of soil was nearby.
Instead, they just left walking, as mourners gathered around the grave.
The camera briefly showed a beautiful house, apparently still under construction, a few meters from the burial site, slightly hidden by vegetation.
The networks are emerging with opinions about the sad case
Other mourners looked mournfully at the grave as the coffin stood in the dirty water, prompting mixed reactions online.
Tayou Dimitri Tayou: “It’s the soul that matters. The body is dust. At least he got the last chance. These are just geographical conditions. There’s nothing scary here. Rest in peace.”
Jean Remi Gueu: “You couldn’t get this out of the water? Did he really bother you? Are you just trying to get him out? God bless you all.”
