Japheth Muroko, the man who coined the slogan ‘Dad, while you were away’, has become famous on the internet after a video went viral during the burial ceremony of his first wife.

The political activist lost his wife, Jelica Karambu, on October 15, the same day he was Prime Minister Raila Odinga when he passed away.
He mourned both losses and vowed to continue supporting Raila’s legacy as one of his staunchest supporters.
Muroko also announced that he will bury his wife a week after the veteran politician’s funeral.
The polygamist buried his wife, Jelica, on November 7 in a somber ceremony full of love and strong family ties.
How many wives does Morocco have?
Although the funeral took place several weeks ago, a new video that has surfaced has shown an unusual scene of one of his wives recognizing his fellow wives in public.
In the video, Donita, who introduced herself as the vice-chairman of the wives, called her fellow wives on stage.

He left Kenyans with surprise when he mentioned that the women are 11 in total.
He said:
“We are 11 wives. We want to respect our chairman, our mother and our love. As you can see, our husband is doing a good job and there is no conflict between us.”
The MC explained that some of his wives were not in the country, so they could not attend.
In reading their condolences, Donita and her colleagues praised Jelica as a pillar of wisdom, stability and unity:
“We are deeply saddened by the departure of our chairman, our sister and our co-wife. Your calm leadership and your compassionate heart guided us and united us. You gave us wisdom, you gave us happiness and you left us with a legacy that will not be erased.”

How Muroko remembered his wife
In a statement of condolence read by the brothers due to strong emotions, Muroko revealed that his first wife was helping to ‘find’ other wives with wisdom and love.
He wrote:
“He blessed me to marry other wives, whom he welcomed from different communities. He didn’t just accept our family structure — he led it. He nurtured it with grace and made sure that unity reigns where others would expect violence.”
