The Siyabonga singer died while receiving treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), after he was diagnosed with leukemia at a critical stage before passing away.

Did Betty’s family know about her illness?

Following her death, public debates largely focused on the custody of her children and who would take care of them: her husband, Hiram Gitau (Tash) or their biological father, Pastor Victor Kanyari.

However, attention has now turned to Betty’s family after her brother, Edward Kang’ethe Mbugua, revealed previously unknown details about her last days.

During the recent live video on the TikTokMbugua revealed that Betty’s family did not know the seriousness of her illness before she passed away.

He recounted their close relationship and how Betty had always openly talked to him about minor health issues, such as minor headaches or the flu.

According to Mbugua, there were no signs of the serious illness that eventually claimed his life.

Furthermore, those close to him were allegedly never informed of what was happening.

“I didn’t know about her being sick with anything other than a slight headache and a runny nose, which are things she could tell me about. I don’t know exactly what happened that she got sick, and I never reported. I don’t know anything about her being very sick. At home, no one knew that Betty was sick or had a low condition,” he explained.

“If my sister had spoken, maybe things would not have been as they are, we found out at the last minute,” he added and explained that when the phone rang, they all rushed to be with him.

It is recalled that according to Betty’s close associate, gospel singer Shiru of GP, was sick for about a week.

Shiru said that Betty was initially rushed to AAR Hospital when her condition worsened at home, before being taken to KNH for advanced treatment.

What is Betty’s family planning now?

Mbugua emphasized that his main priority now is to ensure that Betty’s children are well taken care of.

He expressed his opinion that the children should stay with Pastor Kanyari, noting that despite their separation, he continued to perform his fatherly duties. The children, Sky and Danivictor, have been with Tash since the burial.
