The seat of Kasipul was left vacant after the then Member of Parliament Charles Ong’ondo Were was shot dead while driving in Nairobi.
Does Philip Aroko know Boyd Were?
At his funeral, ODM MPs asked their then leader, Raila Odingato approve one of his sons Ong’ondo to take his place in parliament.
The hotly contested seat attracted various politicians who all wanted to replace Ong’ondo, but his son, Boyd, emerged victorious.
After the results were announced, Boyd and his two stepmothers celebrated as they joined Kasipul residents who had camped outside their home.
While in an interview with Oga ObinnaAroko claimed that he does not know who Boyd is and that he only sees him on television.
“I have nothing against that boy. There is no issue; I don’t know him. I only see him on TV, and physically when we meet. But I don’t know him. I only saw him when my father passed and when ODM people were holding his hands. Is he 27 years old? I am 43 years old. He has not won that thing,” he said.
