On Monday, December 1, Kuria shared a poster showing that he will contest for the top seat in Nairobi in the next general election.
Who has Moses Kuria chosen as his running mate?
The former Minister of Commerce hinted at choosing Makadara Member of Parliament George Aladwa as his running mate.
According to Kuria, his choice of Aladwa was not for tribal reasons but because they all care about Nairobians.
He pointed out that they all have experience in leadership and collective management that can change the city.
“Not because of our tribes. Not because of our parties. Because we care about Nairobi. Because we understand what Nairobians are going through. Because we have local, regional and international networks to fix Nairobi. Because we have many years of experience in leadership and collective management. Because we are not tribal and because we have everything needed to make Nairobi work again,” Kuria.

How did Kenyans react to Kuria’s desire to run for governor?
Kuria’s announcement caused mixed reactions from Kenyans, some suggesting that he was like that after dividing Babu Owino’s votes.
“Moses, are you a presidential candidate? What happened? Now you want to run for governor?”
Free Ubuntu:
“Walahi! This will win early in the morning. Stand up.”
Best Job in Kenya:
“Absolute nonsense, Aladwa is the last mayor of Nairobi who served for 2 years. We in Nairobi are still waiting to see what exemplary results came out of that period. What exactly did he achieve during that time that now qualifies him to “fix Nairobi” in 2027.”
Furniture Guru:
“The former candidate for the governorship of Kiambu will compete for the position of the Governor of Nairobi…Kenya is noma.”
Jolly:
“It is surprising how he moves from coalition politics in Nairobi to competitive politics in Mbeere North without effort. However, a firm position seems not to join the ticket.”
@Songoks50:
“Musa, you are trying to divide Babu Owino’s votes!!”
King:
“Kuria to divide the Kikuyu block for DCP. Aladwa to divide the ODM block for Babu. Sakaja to succeed with the Somali block and a few more. This is your card.”
How will the opposition share seats in Nairobi?
At the same time, the former vice president Rigathi Gachagua announced plans to take over Nairobi county in 2027.
Speaking at a church service in Kariobangi North on Sunday, November 30, Gachagua disclosed the details of his agreement with the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka about how they will share the election seats in Nairobi.
Under the agreement, the Democratic Party for the People (DCP) will provide a governor, a senator, a representative of women, and 16 members of parliament.
Leaders hoping for governorship under the DCP party are Embakasi North Member of Parliament James Gakuya and former Secretary General Irungu Nyakera.
