Brian Kiplimo moved to the UAE in August 2025, hoping for a fresh start and a chance to rebuild his life. For luck good, he got a job at a Cab Taxi Company, and things seemed fine.

However, on November 8, while at work, he accepted a ride request from three people.

Upon arrival, only one passenger boarded. Kiplimo, in a WhatsApp message, recounted the details of that terrifying journey that has since changed his life.

“He was not going far, the destination was only 2.5 kilometers away. I wrote in his location, and he told me we should go. We started the journey, and even before reaching 500 meters, he moved to the seat behind me,” he explained.

In his mind, the passenger was probably just looking for a more comfortable seat, so Kiplimo didn’t think about it until the passenger started acting strangely.

“A few seconds later, he started grabbing me inappropriately. I asked him to stop and let me drive. At that point, I started to turn the car around, and before I knew it, he started strangling me,” Kiplimo said.

The 26-year-old driver managed to honk the car’s horn repeatedly, hoping to alert those around him that something was wrong as he struggled to free himself from the man.

Finally the car hit the pavement and stopped. A distraught Kiplimo said that a man on a motorcycle, who sensed something was wrong, approached them and moved closer to the car.

“That’s when the attacker loosened his grip, and I managed to escape. I got out of the car and looked for a safe place,” he said.
