Kakamega: A family in Chevaywa Ward, Lugari sub-county, mourns the loss of eight relatives who died in a fatal accident on Wednesday, November 26, Kijabe area, Kiambu county.

The victims were among 13 passengers who were traveling to their home in the Kulumbi area for the funeral of their relatives, Mama Perpetua Tsivona.
Governor Fernandes Barasa confirmed the incident and added that the five survivors were rushed to Kijabe hospital for emergency treatment.
“I have received with great shock the news of the death of 8 members of the same family in a fatal road accident in Kijabe, Kiambu county. Initial reports indicate that the eight were part of a team of 13 passengers who were traveling in one car to their home in Kulumbi for the funeral of their relatives in Masitua Perhema,” Perhe Tsitua said.

The county leader expressed his condolences to the family and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
“My government mourns our brothers who died in this accident, we also pray for the speedy recovery of the injured, we share the great tragedy that the family is experiencing in this period of grief and sorrow, may God rest the souls of the deceased in heaven,” he added.

In other news, a Kenyan was among the three crew members who lost their lives when a human plane crashed on Tuesday, November 25, in Leer county, South Sudan.

The accident occurred after the plane, which was chartered to transport food from Juba to help flood-affected communities, experienced a technical problem.
Authorities reported that the bodies of two victims, one from Ukraine and another from South Sudan, was found, while the Kenyan worker remained missing as of Tuesday, November 25.
The Civil Aviation Authority of South Sudan said that an investigation into the cause of the accident has been launched.
