Agents were attacked and injured as the Chwele-Kabuchai by-election turned into violence

Several agents have been attacked, injured and expelled from polling stations in Chwele-Kabuchai ward shortly after voting began.

Independent candidate Eric Wekesa said the attack targeted his agents, blaming his FORD Kenya competitor, Vincent Maunda and his team.

“All my agents have been forcibly attacked and taken out of the polling stations. Thugs with swords and machetes are alleged to have taken control of the process. With threats and violations of the law, the mission is greater than any obstacle, we soldiers,” said Wekesa.

However, FORD Kenya has dismissed the allegations, accusing Wekesa of “stage managing” the attack. Two people have been arrested in connection with the attack.
