This is after Natembeya responded to Mudavadi’s warning to remove him from power in 2027.
Mudavadi had warned that the governor will face a strong candidate supported by Kenya First in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking in an interview with a local radio station, Natembeya advised Mudavadi to put more energy into development instead of political competition.
Natembeya questioned the priority of Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, accusing them of spending too much time focusing on him instead of addressing important development issues in Western Kenya.
How did Natembeya respond to Mudavadi?
“Let him bring a candidate and start a campaign against me in 2027. He should not just make threats from his home. He should come here and see for himself the challenges that will face him,” said Natembeya, asking Mudavadi to fulfill his threats.
Natembeya said that the power used by Mudavadi in political contests could be better used for development.
He claimed that Mudavadi’s hometown, Sabatia, is suffering from lack of priority, citing bad roads, a collapsed tea factory, and communities affected by poverty and worms.
Natembeya said that talking about these challenges has led to calls to remove him from power instead of helping him in his work.
He asked Mudavadi to include strength in the broader national picture, including the upcoming challenge of removing the President William Rutoinstead of focusing on the politics of local governorship.
“He does not even see that his job depends on whether Ruto will continue to be in the White House. All he is thinking about is how to get Natembeya Trans Nzoia out. It is a waste of time and energy,” he announced.
The county leader questioned the long-term neglect of Western Kenya despite its large population, noting that the region has rarely held high positions in defense and national leadership.

“How do these people benefit? Is their main goal just to get Natembeya out of power?” he wondered.
Did Natembeya influence the appointment of DIG and Deputy CDF?
Natembeya said he made great efforts to ensure that the Western region gets the position of Deputy Commissioner General of Police (Deputy IG), which is currently held by Gilbert Masengeli.
He added that he also insisted that Lieutenant General John Mugaravai Omenda be appointed as the Deputy Chief of Defense Forces.
“I shouted until we got the position of Deputy IG. We have never held the position of Chief of Defense Forces since independence. I shouted again until Mugaravai, Mmaragoli, was appointed as the Deputy Chief of the National Guard. How was he (Mudavadi) when I shouted?” asked Natembeya.
Natembeya recalled his time as a regional administrator and commissioner, stressing that Mudavadi and Wetang’ula did not give any help in his promotion, while other leaders helped their communities.
“Our leaders spend their time planning how to remove others from the position. That is what they focus on. But when it comes to helping someone rise to the top, that is a language they failed to understand,” he said.

He said he has been visiting the area every day to encourage the people to support him before the November 27 election.
