Wajackoyah visited Raila’s Opoda Farm house and had time to visit Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, where the politician was buried.
He also made a promise to Raila’s family and vowed to protect Raila’s daughter, Winnie Odingawho has been arguing with some members of the ODM Party.
Why did George Wajackoyah go into exile?
While addressing the crowd, Ida remembered and thanked Wajackoyah for visiting her family.
“You know Wajackoyah is a very open person. He says things as they are. He doesn’t know how to hide his words and make them look attractive. If it’s bad, it’s bad. If it’s right, he’ll say it like it is. This reputation of his started very early. Way back in 1991. He got into trouble with the system, because he revealed a secret that shouldn’t have been revealed. That was the secret of Ouko’s death,” he said.
According to Ida, what happened next was worse, which made the former presidential candidate plan how to flee the country.
“That harassment was never seen in your life in the near future. But then, in a way, he was smuggled, and I remember at that time, Elder Jaramogi had started a Ford Party. And he was brought there, and no one approached him. He was hiding in the car, because we were planning his transfer. I was sent by Jaramogi to find out if the person hiding in the Land Rover was the one we expected,” he said.
He returned and confirmed that he was indeed Wajackoyah, and they rushed to get him out of the country on a cargo plane.
“What happened next was a marathon. He couldn’t get on an ordinary plane,” he added.
