Why Ndindi Nyoro opposes funding for Talanta Stadium

Its cost of KSh 44.7 billion has created controversy, especially regarding the government’s funding strategy.

Nyoro criticized the Sports Fund bond issued to support the project, which was listed on the Nairobi Stock Exchange under the President’s administration William Ruto.

The bond aimed to collect at least KSh 44 billion for a 15-year repayment plan, a move Nyoro called economically unsound.

Nyoro strongly objected to the government’s decision to finance the Talanta Stadium through the Sports Fund bond, warning that the strategy relies on future revenue to cover current costs, an approach he believes will burden tax payers over time.

Why is Ndindi Nyoro worried about the guarantee of Talanta Stadium

With the bond offering an interest rate of 15.04% and backed by the government, he estimated that interest payments alone could exceed KSh 100 billion over 15 years, pushing the total repayment to over KSh 144 billion.
