On Wednesday, November 19, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) received the first batch of ballot papers and legal forms for the elections.
In that statement, the commission led by Erastus Edung Ethekon said the last shipment of voting papers will arrive in the country on Thursday, November 20, at 1930 hours.
“The commission led by Chairman @eeethekon has received this evening the first shipment of 10 pellets with voting papers and legal forms for the upcoming by-elections on November 27, 2025. The last shipment of 29 pellets will arrive tomorrow evening at 1930,” IEBC it said.
The Electoral Commission disclosed that it invited all 51 political parties participating in the by-election to witness the arrival of ballot papers for transparency purposes.
“The commission made a deliberate decision to invite all 51 participating political parties to witness the arrival of ballot papers,” the commission said.
The IEBC announced that it will start distributing voting materials on Friday, November 21, with the Banisa and Mandera ballots being flown in for security reasons.
“Shipping of the materials, including ballot papers will begin on Friday 21 November 2025. Ballot papers in remote areas including Banisa and Mandera will be airlifted due to security and distance reasons,” it said.
The commission revealed that the ballot papers were printed at Inform Lykos (Hellas) SA in Athens, Greece, at a cost of KSh 27 million.
The electoral commission assured the country and all players that it will provide free, fair and credible elections in the upcoming by-elections.
