A pastor in Nairobi has sadly shared the story of his broken marriage. Pastor Gilbert Manyasi recounted how happy he was at first to meet a woman who was so dedicated to the church.

For him, Brenda (not her real name) was a loving woman, rooted in Christian values, and she was also part of the praise and worship team.
The two fell in love, began dating, and hoped to marry one day. They visited each other regularly to maintain their relationship.

However, in 2019, Manyasi found a disturbing text message sent to Brenda by another man.
“She came to visit me. The man called her, but she didn’t answer. Then I saw a message between them, with the man explaining how he missed her. He called her ‘baby’ and asked where she is,” the pastor participated.
He admitted to confronting her about the matter, but she did not respond and instead went to sleep.
The next morning, he left home and returned three days later with his brother-in-law to collect some of his belongings.
Manyasi thought the relationship was over, until three months later when she returned, claiming she was pregnant with his child.
Despite not knowing where Brenda was during their three-month separation, Manyasi welcomed her back and accepted the child as his own, as they had been sexually involved.
Life seemed to be good for the couple as the father of one continued his pastoral duties and even opened his own church. They finally officially got married in December 2021.
As time passed, their love grew, and they became a happy family of three.
In an effort to empower Brenda, Manyasi encouraged her to go back to school. He took a short course in 2022 and had luck to get a job as a sales agent after graduation.
“In 2022, he got a job as a salesman. He was earning something, and that’s when life changed and problems started,” he participated.

What happened after the pastor’s wife got a job?
According to Pastor Manyasi, Brenda started staying out late at night, returning home without explanation, and often denying her marital rights.
Her lifestyle changed, and she started talking to other men, claiming they were “just friends.”
This time, Manyasi was satisfied and sought help from their close couple to intervene and reconcile their issues.
However, the situation changed when Brenda accused him of physically abusing her.
Sadly, the close couple supported Brenda, asking Manyasi to apologize for her actions.
“He cried and told them that I wasn’t paying the rent, I wasn’t buying food, and that if he failed to pay the bills, I would beat him every day. He even claimed that I threatened to kill him and said I was demanding a dowry from his parents,” he explained.
Despite the false allegations, Manyasi apologized and even called Brenda’s parents to apologize for asking for dowry.
His goal was to restore peace and ensure that their child is well taken care of by both parents.
However, this did not solve their marital problems. Brenda started sleeping in the living room and stopped serving in her husband’s church. “When she was asked why she does not attend her husband’s church, she claimed that I locked her in the house and warned her not to attend the service,” he said.

According to Manyasi, the best man’s wife worked in a different county and was rarely at home, leaving Brenda alone. This is how their relationship reportedly began.
“I called the pastor who presided over our wedding and explained what was going on, but he dismissed me. He said they were working on other things and I should talk to someone better to resolve the issue,” Manyasi remembered.
The bishop even preached one Sunday about how men who abused their wives were not fit to serve God.
Manyasi’s efforts to save his marriage collapsed as everyone believed the false narrative that he was a cruel man.
The best man and a few church elders allegedly threatened to upset him, claiming they had more money than him if he didn’t stop pursuing Brenda.
Finally, Manyasi gave up, leaving him for a better man and trying to rebuild his reputation, which had already been destroyed.
“I was sad. I could not continue to preach or focus on the ministry. I was completely brokenhearted. My church was closed, and even now, I sleep in the house of the servants of another church where I have been received with compassion,” he participated.
The Servant of God explained that since then he has moved and is trying to rebuild his life without his wife.
