President William Ruto has launched a strong political campaign targeting the strongholds of his opponents in an effort to increase the number of his followers before the 2027 General Election.

Even as he puts himself in a position to inherit a large number of supporters of his former partner, the late ODM leader Raila Odinga, the president is determined to get votes in areas seen as the strongholds of his opponents.

Ruto is currently on a four-day offensive in Ukambani, an area dominated by the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka for several decades.

Kalonzo is the leader to fly the flag of the Opposition in the 2027 elections after being approved by the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.

2. People Daily

The publication revealed that President Ruto is expected to visit Trans Nzoia county to impress Governor George Natembeya and other Opposition leaders.

Ruto has set his sights on the multi-ethnic county and is pursuing the support of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula in Trans Nzoia and Bungoma.

The President wants to reduce the influence of Natembeya and DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, given that they denied him the vote in the 2022 General Election, where he followed Raila.

Ruto is reported to be aware of the difficult challenge ahead of him in Trans-Nzoia and is working to devise a formula that could lead to a major divide between Malwa and Natembeya.

The head of state is expected to speak with them during his development-based visit to the county within a week. He will persuade them to join the government.
