The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has planned to celebrate 20 years of its existence with a three-day celebration in Mombasa, from November 14 to 16.

This event will bring together leaders from all political fields to reflect on the party’s journey and honor the legacy of its founding leader, the late former prime minister Raila Amolo Odinga.
This celebration will be a time to reflect on ODM’s role in shaping Kenya’s democratic landscape.
The ODM group, founded in 2005, has weathered political storms and remains the oldest surviving political party in the country.
The ceremony will highlight Raila’s lifelong commitment to expanding democratic space and building a movement based on unity and people-centered values.
Why will the 20th anniversary of ODM be held in Mombasa?
Speaking before the event on Thursday, November 13, Minority Leader of the National Assembly and Member of Parliament for Suna East Junet Mohamed emphasized the importance of the example of organizing the ceremony in Mombasa.
“We are not holding this party in Mombasa by accident. ODM is running and roaring from the Indian Ocean to the lake region, to the North East, and to the City of Nairobi,” he said.
He noted that Mombasa has been ODM’s stronghold since the advent of devolution.
“We are happy. This is our time. We celebrate ODM because we have been very successful. This party led Kenya’s democratic transition, defended devolution, and helped deliver the 2010 Constitution under the leadership of the late legend,” Mohamed added.
The program will include a Founders Dinner, bringing together the individuals who played an important role in establishing the association two decades ago.
Who will attend ODM in 20 celebrations?
The MP confirmed that various leaders are expected to attend, including President William Ruto, the Prime Minister Stay Mudavadiretired president Uhuru Kenyatta (subject to availability), and other former members of the Pentagon.

Furthermore, the first general secretary of ODM and the governor of PoisonousAnyang’ Nyong’o, and other prominent people such as legislators, governors, and youth representatives from Gen Z.
Mohamed stressed that the celebrations will be open to all Kenyans, focusing more on ODM members and supporters across the country.
Did Ruto give KSh 1 for ODM youth transport?
Meanwhile, the main party of the party scheduled for Saturday, November 15, will attract members from all over the country.
According to Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor, Ruto he gave KSh 1 million to help some of the youth from Nairobi who had expressed interest in participating in the event.
Ruto, one of the founding members of ODM, had also promised to help maintain the party’s unity following Raila’s death.
