Betty died on Monday, November 10, at the Kenyatta National Hospital, where she was receiving treatment after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.
Did Pastor Kanyari know about Betty’s illness?
During a live session on Wednesday, November 12, Kanyari revealed that he never communicated with people close to Betty about her health.
He dismissed claims made by gospel singer Ngaruiya Junior that they tried to inform him in his last days.
Kanyari said he was only told about Betty’s death, which made him emotional.
He insisted that if he had been informed earlier, he would have fought tirelessly for his treatment.
“I’m not someone to ignore women. Nobody looked for me. Betty was sick for two weeks and I wasn’t told. If I had been told, I would have fought for her day and night. I was only told that she died, and that’s why I’m so emotional,” he said.
He criticized those close to Betty for allegedly failing to monitor her health closely.
“Cancer is not a disease that affects a person in just one day; it is a disease that often stays with him for a long time. There is a big problem because there is no way that a person can be diagnosed with cancer and then die after two weeks,” Kanyari said.
The preacher added that, if he had known about the disease earlier, he could have taken great steps to ensure that he gets treatment, even abroad.
“If I had been informed, I would have tried my best, even to send him to India. Cancer does not kill you in two weeks, meaning that he had been fighting the disease for a long time. Those close to him needed to monitor him carefully and send him for examination, even abroad. If they needed us to donate money, we could, and maybe we would not be here today.” he explained.
