Leader of the Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K) Eugene Malwa he seems to be lax about the possibility of joining President William Ruto’s camp, if he is invited.

Reports surfaced suggesting that Ruto’s team is courting Malwa and the leader of the Wiper Party Kalonzo Musyokawith the president trying to strengthen his side before the 2027 election.
Responding to the rumours, Wamalwa indicated that he was ready to consider the offer, but only if other leaders within the United Opposition were also included.
He emphasized that the leader of the Democratic Party for the People (DCP), Rigathi Gachaguamust be advised.

“I received a lot of calls from people asking, saying they heard me and Kalonzo being wanted by Ruto. Even Gachagua asked if Ruto was really looking for us. And he said we should not leave him behind. I would like to tell Gachagua that if Ruto calls us, we will tell him that Gachagua is our spokesperson. We will tell Ruto that if he is looking for us, he should go to Wamunyoro and talk to Gachagua,” he said.
At the same time, Wamalwa reaffirmed the opposition’s commitment to oust Ruto from power and reassured his supporters about their unity before 2027.
“Otherwise, we have decided to work together. We started this journey with Kalonzo two years ago, and Gachagua joined us earlier this year. We want to assure the people of Mount Kenya that we will not leave, whether he is looking for us or not. Our resolution is to bring him home in 2027,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kalonzo completely rejects any possibility of working with Ruto before the 2027 elections.
He dismissed claims by the media that he was being persuaded to join the Kenya Kwanza coalition, calling it a deliberate distraction aimed at inciting chaos within the opposition.

Citing major concerns, including alleged government violence against Kenyan youth, excessive taxation and the high cost of living, among others, Kalonzo reiterated his commitment to stand with ordinary citizens and maintain unity within the United Opposition.
Deputy President Kithur Kindiki he was vocal in efforts to persuade Kalonzo to join Ruto’s camp.
Speaking during empowerment events in Ukambani, Kindiki said that the current political style of Kalonzo is not compatible with that of Gachagua.
According to Kindiki, opposition politics does not suit Kalonzo’s character, and he hinted at persuading him to join Ruto’s camp.
Kalonzo is keen on his presidential bid in 2027, after putting it aside in the last three elections.
His first and only shot at the presidency was in 2007, when he finished third behind the late Raila Odinga and Mwai Kibaki.
In the next general election in 2013, he supported Raila, being his running mate, the same as in 2017.
