Shiru and Bayo were very close, and he always kept aside his friend’s difficult moments, remembering how his comrade fought until the end.
The Kikuyu singer explained how Betty fought till the end, revealing that it was Bayo’s daughter who alerted the neighbors about her condition.
According to him, Bayo woke up late at night, and did not have the strength to call his friends or stand up for himself.
“When I slept, Betty started bleeding, and when she got out of bed she felt like she had run out of oxygen. She got out of bed bleeding and started going down the stairs, then she opened the door and her daughter saw her because I told her not to sleep, then she asked ‘mom, where are you going?’ It was as if he had bled profusely and had no more oxygen. So his daughter found herself looking for the car keys and started honking,” he said.
Sky honked the horn of the family’s car and alerted a neighbor, who came to their house to check Bayo’s condition.
“He honked the car horn, and all the neighbors and doormen came, and one of his neighbors took him to the Kenyatta National Hospital. My daughter woke me up, telling me that I had many calls waiting. He had been taken to AAR, but they could not admit him because he did not have enough money.”

The daughter assured her mother that she will fight cancer, and while in the ambulance she sat down and prayed to God to heal Bayo.
“Sky said he wants to get into the ambulance with his mother to tell him something. Sky said ‘mom, I know you’re scared, but you’re going to fight this cancer. You’re going to get out of here, mom.’ Sitting down, he said to God, ‘God, don’t let my mother die.’ When they arrived, Kenyatta stayed there for two days and could not get treatment because the cancer had already eaten him. He was given a blood transfusion but time had already passed,” Shiru added.
