How did Bruno’s family refer to his murder?

After completing his fourth form studies in 2023, Bruno was working as a security guard at a nearby school while saving to join college in 2026.

His death left family members devastated, with Okindo saying that the loss was like losing his own son.

“Bruno’s death surprised us a lot. I have never understood how I lost my son. As an only son, he was the light of my brother’s house. Now the house is completely broken. He was working as a security guard while preparing to join college next year,” he said.

According to reports, Bruno and another young man were reportedly dragged to the chief’s compound, where they were beaten to death in front of the local chief and parliamentary candidate Boyd Were.

The incident sparked political tension, with businessman and independent candidate Philip Aroko accusing Were of orchestrating the violence that contributed to the deaths of his supporters.

Did Wanga give KSh 300,000 to Bruno’s family?

After the incident, rumors spread that the Governor of Homa Bay, Gladys Wangavisited the family and donated KSh 300,000 to spare Were, the ODM candidate, from legal charges.

However, Okindo strongly denied the allegations, saying that no politician, including the governor, chief, or parliamentary candidates, had ever visited them or given any help.

“I was at home all day yesterday, but the governor did not come, and we did not receive any money from him. No politician saw us, not even the parliamentary candidate who says the young man was his follower. Not even the chief was seen,” he explained.

He insisted that even if Wanga came, he would refuse any donation, saying it would feel like ‘selling his child.’

Bruno’s funeral is scheduled for November 24, and the family has begun preparations without political support or interference.

“I cannot follow politicians to seek help,” he said. “We will bury the child and start fighting for justice.”
