Jane Wangari Kibocho is very worried about her son, who has been missing for more than a month since he traveled to a war-torn country.

Why did Reuben go to Russia?

The brutal attack has not been in contact with his mother or any other family member since Wednesday, October 8.

Jane, a mother of five, recounted the last conversation she had with her only son before he disappeared.

“He called and asked for prayers. He told me to pray hard for him because things were not good. That was the last time I heard my son’s voice making a painful request,” he told TUKO.co.ke.

Jane reflected on how hardworking her son’s salary was, where he was promised a good salary.

Reuben returns to Kenya from Somalia

He had returned safely from Somalia, where he had worked as a construction worker, and the salary was not good.

“He told me he got a security job and that I should not worry because there were many of them. When he left home, they camped in Nairobi, and he told me they were in the organization waiting to leave. He said the first group had already left, but he was still in Kenya because some of his documents were not ready.

After a few days, he called me and told me that his documents were completed and he was leaving. I didn’t know he was going to a dangerous place. I just thought it was like other jobs he had gone to and returned safely,” Jane told.

What was Reuben’s last request to his mother?

The single mother said her son later told her that he did not get a security job as promised but instead was informed that he and other Kenyans would be trained as Russian soldiers.

Since then, Jane, who lives by regular jobs, is restless and has never revealed to anyone where her son was or what he was doing.

“The day he said they were going for training, he told me they would not have internet where they were going, so he would be offline. After a few days, he called me again and told me to pray for him because they had finished training and were being sent to the battlefield, and that they had been told they would be on the front line. That was the last conversation. Since then, I have not heard from him, I have not seen him, nor received any information about him. My health deteriorated because I lost my appetite. I don’t eat and sometimes I can’t sleep well,” Jane said.
