Speaking to the DCP Youth Association in Nairobi, Gachagua dismissed the allegations saying it was government-sponsored propaganda aimed at discouraging his supporters.
He emphasized that he remains the most suitable candidate to challenge the President William Rutociting his strong public support and access to resources.
“Let me confirm to avoid doubt. We will have one presidential candidate. I saw William Ruto sponsoring the headline in yesterday’s newspaper, that I will not contest; that I will leave others and then claim part of the government. Who told them? I am the winner of this race, my friends. What I need to do is to convince my colleagues that I have the numbers, the ability to mobilize, I can gather enough resources, I have enough motivation, I have enough power to send a message to defeat William Ruto,” he said.
What will Gachagua do if the opposition does not accept him to run for president
Gachagua added that he will work to convince his opposition colleagues to support his ambition.
If they identify another candidate more suitable to face Ruto, he said he would resign for them.
“I will convince my colleagues to make me the flag candidate. If I don’t convince them, and if they convince me another Kenyan can do it, I will release it, I will do it. The newspaper is funded by Ruto and is run by the National Intelligence Service (NIS).”
Media reports that Gachagua referred to suggested that he had chosen to abandon his presidential ambitions and instead chose to support the Wiper Party leader. Kalonzo Musyoka as the opposition’s presidential candidate in the 2027 vote.
How Gachagua will make up for his lost presidential bid
Gachagua is said to have negotiated an agreement to get half of the government nominations if Kalonzo wins, while a member of parliament from central Kenya claims the agreement has been implemented and would be implemented at the right time.

The agreement would also give a chance to other leaders from the opposition.
According to the reports, while Kalonzo was on the presidential ballot, Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya would run alongside him as a co-candidate.
Jubilee deputy leader Fred Matiang’i would become prime minister, similar to the current cabinet secretary, while DAP-K leader Eugene Malwa waiting for the Speaker of the National Assembly to speak.
PLP Martha Karua was reportedly tipped to become Senate Speaker, but this will depend on whether she wins the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat, which she is said to be eyeing as an option against the presidency.
