Oburu was among ODM party dignitaries who attended the funeral of Otieno Kajwang’s widow, Rose Otieno, in her home town.
Rose, who was a lecturer at Kenyatta University, died on October 30 after falling ill.
In his memory, his son, David Brian Ajwang’, led a moving service where he recalled his dark days as an alcoholic.
According to him, when his father, a senator, died, he fell into depression and started using drugs, and it took God and his mother to pull him out.
At Rose’s funeral, Oburu also had a good time, angering mourners with his confession about the popular female politician, Millie.
In his words:
“I knew Millie Gesa Gesa through Kajwang. At that time, we were campaigning for Raila. Kajwang and I agreed that Raila would campaign at the top, but we had to talk to the grassroots. We had to mobilize them to come out in large numbers. When we went to Busia, we realized that he had planned everything, where people would sleep, what they would eat and the platforms they would talk about. Kajwang and I were just doing politics. Millie had done everything else. I loved Millie. because of that. He was so handsome that sometimes he would confuse me. We did Jakom campaigns with him.”
