Speaking on Friday, November 11, during a meeting with the lower level leaders of the party from Murang’a County, Uhuru emphasized the importance of mutual respect in politics.

As he warned Jubilee members who violated ethics

Uhuru said that democracy gives everyone the right to have their opinion without turning to extreme positions.

Using his authority as the leader of the party, he warned that he will remove from the party any member who claims to be loyal to Jubilee while insulting other politicians.

He strongly condemned those who attack the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and instructed Jeremiah Kioni to take disciplinary measures.

He said: “Mr. Secretary General, I must say, when I read online that someone claims to defend Jubilee while insulting Gachagua and others, I don’t think that is acceptable. We are not an abusive party. Every leader deserves respect; let them speak, and when your time comes, speak with you. The people will decide. I don’t want these petty fights, it’s nonsense. Leaders have the right to be in the party they want. In fact, I will not hesitate to expel anyone who engages in such behavior,” he said.

Uhuru’s statements were supported by his party deputy, Fred Matiang’i.

Fred Matiang’i’s advice to Jubilee members

Matiang’i said that the Jubilee party depends on its members to promote it and attract more people to join it.

He added that no one will be interested in a party whose members engage in bad behavior.

He encouraged members to be polite when dealing with those who differ from them:

“My last request to the members and leaders of the party, and this is the most important message every time I go. We are the best ambassadors of this party. We are the best employers of this party as leaders. Through our language, the way we talk to our fellow Kenyans, the way we respect the members of other parties we sometimes clash with.

We are here to build our country. We want to build our party, build our nation. The more, the better. Let’s not waste our time in useless arguments and insults. I can’t explain it better than what our party leader explained here a while ago. Let’s think of uniting so that our party can grow. Where there are conflicts, Jubilee should be seen as a place of unity, love, tolerance, and inclusion. Especially this message concerns our young members, women, and people living with disabilities. This party is for everyone,” he said.

Are there divisions within the United Opposition?

Uhuru and Matiang’i’s warning to Jubilee members has come following reports of divisions within the United Opposition.

There are claims that Gachagua’s side is in conflict with that of Matiang’i, while it is claimed that the former Deputy President is against the Jubilee Party.

He is said to want the DCP party to control the politics of Mount Kenya, something that is giving him sleepless nights about Jubilee’s role in the politics of the region.
