According to the newspaper, President William Ruto is facing a growing political storm within his United Democratic Party (UDA) as coalition talks before the 2027 General Elections are intensifying.

This crisis follows a new request by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to secure the Deputy President’s seat in any future coalition agreement.

Transitional leader of ODM Dr. Oburu Oginga said his party will not accept a lower position than the Deputy President, a statement that has raised tension within Kenya First.

“If we have to look for a lower position, it should not be lower than the number two (Deputy President) in any structure. That is my opinion. We should not take less than that,” Oginga announced.

Ruto now finds himself balancing competing interests, satisfying the leaders of Mt Kenya East who are loyal to the Deputy President Kithur Kindiki while keeping ODM within his political circle.

UDA officials, including Deputy General Secretary Omboko Milemba, said ODM had the right to make demands but stressed that the coalition agreement would ultimately require negotiation and compromise.

However, MPs from Mount Kenya East have strongly rejected ODM’s request, warning the president against replacing Professor Kindiki.

Led by Buuri Member of Parliament Mugambi Rindikiri and Tigania East Member of Parliament Mpuru Aburi, the MPs said the DP’s position cannot be discussed and any attempt to change it will be tantamount to political self-destruction.

They accused ODM of trying to cheat the president through power sharing tactics.

The violence comes several weeks after the former Vice President was removed from power Rigathi Gachagualeaving Ruto in Mt Kenya.

The boy’s mother, Vivian Agiza, said that her son had finished his lunch and went to play around 7pm.

He thought he was in the nearby school yard, a common place for children. However, concern grew when he did not return quickly to fetch water, as was his custom.

“He ate lunch and went out to play. Before, I knew he had gone to his school where he usually goes to play. But I suspected after he took a long time to come back. Usually, he goes back to drink water and then goes out to play with his friends,” said the emotional 22-year-old girl.

Later, he realized that he had traveled more than a kilometer to the river with the neighborhood children.

Around nine in the afternoon, one of the children rushed in, shouting about drowning. Agiza at first dismissed it as childish exaggeration, but soon felt uneasy and joined the others on their way to the area.

When he arrived, he was faced with a terrible scene: his son’s naked body was lying on a rock, with water still coming from his mouth and nose.

“My child was innocent. He was a good, funny boy. He didn’t deserve to die,” said Agiza with tears in his eyes.

Details revealed that Rachvill had three boys aged 12, 10, and four. The father, Cosmas Muasya, explained that witnesses saw the elder tie the hands of the victim, enlisting the 10-year-old to tie the legs.

They tied a heavy bag and threw him into the water, allegedly as payment for an insult, calling him a big monkey.

Muasya noted that the criminals tried to save him but failed, while the 12-year-old urged silence before escaping.

“We hear that the boys tried to save him but could not. Mkubwa told the other two to keep quiet about the incident and fled the scene,” Muasya said.

A passerby saw the floating body, released the restraints, and offered help, but it was too late.

It is said that the children confessed to the act, leading to the arrest of the two older children.

With great sadness, Muasya mentioned her first child as eager to go to school, expected to start Pre-Primary School in January. The remains were taken to Saitoti Mortuary for autopsy.

Grieving parents are demanding accountability, insisting that one suspect has a previous record of harmlessly harming local children.

“What we want is justice for our son,” Muasya said.

According to his report, 50 people have been reported missing after being kidnapped by unknown people.

Of these, 24 were rescued alive, eight were found dead, and 18 are still missing.

The delegation will include Wiper elected officials, elders, and party supporters.

Organizers said Musyoka will transport 100 cows to Raila’s family home in Opoda, before visiting the Kang’o cemetery, where Ukambani elders will lead the funeral rites.

Musyoka confirmed last week that he will lead the mourning tour.

He said Raila’s family accepted Wiper’s request to visit him, admitting that the late leader had wished for a quick burial, which was not possible immediately after his death.

The party clarified that this is a tour led by Wiper only after reports that former vice president Rigathi Gachagua would join were rejected.
