Mama Baha wa Machachari Warns Kenyans Spreading False Reports: “I’m Not Dead”

On Tuesday, November 25, Wanjiku shared the sad news of his sister Gracie’s death.

Gracie, who starred as Mama Bob in the much-loved TV show, was fondly remembered by Kenyans who took to social media to mourn the actress and celebrate her decade-long contribution to the show.

However, some claimed that it was Wanjiku who had died.

In response, the actor issued a cease and desist notice to those involved.

“This letter serves as a formal cease and desist notice in response to your misleading and malicious posting on your Facebook page falsely claiming that ‘Former Machachari actress Mama Baha has passed away,’ accompanied by misleading emojis and images.”

According to the letter, it got a lot of participation. Wanjiku saying that the fake reports made him sad.

“This statement is completely false and fabricated. Mama Baha is alive and well. Your post has caused great distress, emotional trauma, and reputational damage to Mama Baha, her grieving family, her professional network and friends. The post has been widely shared, causing an outpouring of condolence messages, public mourning, and an already grieving period for the deceased family.”

Wanjiku denounced the publication as misleading, contrary to the Constitution of Kenya.

“You are ordered to stop any publication, or dissemination of this or any similar false content about Mama Baha or her family. Specifically, within one hour of receiving this notice.”

He also ordered that the post be immediately removed and deleted, along with all images, comments, and shares.

“Provide written confirmation of the deletion, such as a screenshot of the removed post.”

Wanjiku also wanted the publication of a full retraction and apology as a post posted on the Facebook page, visible for at least two days.

“Apologize to say that the previous post was false and erroneous, Mama Baha is alive, sincere regret for the harm caused, and best wishes to the family.”

Kenyans supported Wanjiku writing:

Yvonne Wanjiku: “Thank God you are fine. People should stop killing others. I wonder, do they stop for a moment to think how their families feel?”

Margaret Njeri Waruingi: “Please sue them. This will be a lesson to people who are quick to write unverified news. Forgive your family.” MC Sharon: “Get them!”
