Speaking during a recent event, Oketch said Raila had clearly told him about his vision for the ODM Party and his plans for the upcoming elections before he died.
Raila, who died on Wednesday, October 15, while receiving treatment in India, left open questions about the future of ODM and its direction under a wider government system that includes some of his allies serving in the President’s administration. William Ruto.
Would Raila run for the presidency in 2027?
According to Oketch, Raila had clearly told him that he wanted ODM to remain part of the wider government for the unity and stability of the party.
He further claimed that the former prime minister was interested in supporting President Ruto for re-election in 2027.
“What was in his heart was that ODM supports President Ruto and did so with a lot of power so that he could win with a big advantage. It was very clear where Baba’s heart was, I was with him for most of the last time of his life. It was clear as day that he supported Ruto,” Oketch demanded.
Oketch vowed to respect Raila’s alleged wishes, saying it was his duty to ensure that the late leader’s vision was fulfilled.
“It is my duty to ensure that Father’s will is fulfilled in terms of politics. Father had the president fully and wanted his people to be in government. We are fully behind you, Mr. President,” he added.
