“After finishing the funeral activities, I believe he should lead the party. He will be needed to bring it back to stability. He has more discipline and order compared to Oburu. He has a voice and authority,” Gaucho said.

Can Ida Odinga be the new leader of Nyanza?

Gaucho, who aspires to be an MP in the next parliament, also said that Ida can easily inherit Raila’s political strongholds if he decides to do so.

He saw him as a person capable of making decisions and influencing the next general election in areas where Raila had strong support.

Gaucho welcomed Ida into the political arena, saying she has the strength to oppose the status quo.

“Mama will interfere in the 2027 elections. She is a force to be reckoned with. She will influence the elections in areas where Raila controlled Nyanza, West, Coast, and even Nairobi. Anyone who thinks she will not have influence is deceiving herself. She must appear in the party. Other officials will respect her more than Oburu. I believe she has what it takes to lead the party,” Gaucho concluded.

Gaucho’s comments came after political analyst Herman Manyora started a debate after saying that Ida could be ODM’s best choice to face the President William Ruto in the 2027 election.

Speaking in an online interview, Manyora described Ida as politically experienced and influential enough to revive ODM and unite the opposition.
