At least 20 people lost their lives on Friday, October 31, after heavy rains caused mudslides, rocks, and flash floods, destroying villages along the Kerio Valley.

Residents were also taken aback, and authorities said the heavy rain caused massive flooding along the slopes of Kerio, which is known for its steepness.

Heavy rain fell in the area, washed dirt and large stones to fields, houses, and in the sub-counties of East Marakwet and West Marakwet.
