Victor Kemboi, who was living with his parents in Saika, Nairobi, went missing under mysterious circumstances, which led his family to report him missing after his phone suddenly switched off.
When was Victor Kemboi’s body found?
On October 10, the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) informed the family of the sad news that Kemboi’s body had been found in Nairobi Forest, Karen.
His identity was confirmed through personal items found at the scene, including his student ID and books.
“The first person they tried to question refused to come forward after realizing that they were DCI officers. The DCI officers called us and showed us his ID and books, and asked us if we recognized him. Then we were told that he was the person who was found dead in the forest.” said Prisca Limo, Kemboi’s mother.
Kemboi’s father expressed great sadness, explaining that his son was a very intelligent student who was expected to graduate at the end of the year.
“There was a part of his pants that was torn. Some hairs were also gone. I am very sad and I don’t even know what to say. Our son had a life of hope, someone cut his life suddenly. He was ready to graduate maybe at the end of the year,” his father said bitterly.
Detectives found a bottle labeled ‘carbon nitrate’ near the body, something that could help in the ongoing investigation.

What killed Victor Kemboi?
Investigators of DCI they found the body had been dismembered and decomposed, which made it difficult to determine the cause of death.
The Government Doctor, Bernard Midia, suggested a toxicology examination to determine the cause of death, noting that the state of decay and the preliminary examination of the corpse may make the results difficult.
“Since we have done the autopsy several times, many things may have been affected due to the process of decomposition as well as the destruction of the tissue during the initial examination, so we need to sit down and consolidate this information.”e,” said Media.
The family now wants answers, especially about the boda boda driver who was allegedly last seen by Kemboi but has yet to give a statement to the police.
Questions also persist as to how the body managed to remain undetected in the protected forest for nearly a month, despite the strong odor that normally emanates from a decomposing body.
