Oburu said doctors in Nairobi had given him strong drugs to treat Raila, which caused him to stop making public appearances a few weeks before his death.

“He had a blood clot in his head, and the doctors here in Nairobi were trying to fix it, but they were using strong drugs, which were known as steroids, which made him tired, that’s why you saw him leaving some public events,” said Oburu.

He revealed that President Ruto had to intervene after health experts in Dubai and doctors in Kenya disagreed about Raila’s health condition.

During their meeting at Raila Karen’s house, they all agreed that there was a need to immediately transfer the former Prime Minister to India.

The Siaya senator thanked Ruto for providing a private plane that transported the late ODM leader to Mumbai for emergency treatment.

“We agreed that he must go there immediately because there were differences of opinion taken by doctors in Dubai and here. His personal doctor was also given the opportunity to see the details. The President took the matter seriously and arranged his transfer to India. I am very grateful to him for what he did. His quick response. I would not have been able to work at that speed.”
