When news of Raila’s death broke on October 15, Kenyans were shocked, including journalists such as Linus Kaikai.

How long did the conversation between Kaikai and Raila last?

Kaikai revealed that he and Raila often spoke on the phone, and their last conversation lasted seven minutes.

He revealed that the politician touched on the wider government, touching on Gideon Moi’s unexpected meeting with the President William Ruto.

Kaikai was with his News Gang team which included Yvonne Okwara, Jamila Mohammed and Sam Gituku.

The journalists were all smiles when they presented the gift to the former prime minister’s widow.

Kenyans praised them for supporting Raila’s family during their mourning period. One of the Kaikai team members shared the photo on social media and wrote:

“Together with my colleagues, we visited Min Piny to apologize. When you pray, pray for Mama Ida too.”

Netizens comment on the News Gang team surprising Ida

Some Kenyans thought that the News Gang team would do a special edition and host their own news program in Siaya county in honor of Raila.

A section of Kenyans congratulated the team for taking care of Ida with love and support. Here’s what they said:

In other news, SK Macharia visited Ida and her family in Bondo and revealed how his friendship with Raila began.

The media mogul revealed that Raila’s father Jaramogi Oginga gave him the responsibility of taking care of Raila and his brother Oburu.

He respected his friend as a true politician who sacrificed himself for his country.
