The Member of Parliament who is supposed to run for the Kakamega governor seat in the 2027 General Election, has now come forward to accuse Barasa of running projects funded by the national government and organizations in his state.
What are the projects that Barasa claims he is responsible for in Khwisero?
He mentioned the Khwisero-Khumailo Road, which was built by the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) and the reproductive branch funded by Safaricom in the Mulwanda Clinic, as among the projects that the governor claims to fund.

According to the MP, there is not a single project that the current Kakamega county government has initiated in Khwisero.
“He has done nothing in my state. He must go home,” Aseka said on Sunday, October 26.
The lawmaker claimed that locals in the state are suffering from, among other things, poor roads and poor Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres. He told the locals to vote out the county boss in the next general election.
He also claimed that the Barasa administration has isolated the Khwisero constituency in development projects despite its role in his election in 2022.
“Barasa is one term. He has isolated us in terms of development but he is busy with other people’s projects,” Aseka demanded.
Has Fernandes Barasa progressively isolated the Khwisero constituency?
However, the governor rejected the lawmaker’s claim that he was taking credit for projects he did not finance.

Barasa said that as a county, they have been cooperating with various organizations, including Safaricom, in financing projects.

He also dismissed allegations that he had isolated the Khwisero constituency.
“We as a county have always tried to ensure that every sub-county, including Khwisero, gets an equal share of development projects,Barasa said.
He also noted that the county is building modern ECDEs in all public primary schools.
Does Oparanya still have a lot of influence in Kakamega?
Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported that Aseka had warned Kakamega politicians against attacking the former governor Wycliffe Oparanya.
The MP pointed out that anyone against the Minister of Cooperation was building his political grave.
According to Aseka, Oparanya still has many supporters in the county and the ability to determine his political direction.
The minister, in recent months, has differed with several leaders in the county, including Governor Barasa, who accused him of dividing ODM members in the county. Senator Boni Khalwale also does not have a good relationship with Oparanya regarding his alleged preference for Elsie Muhanda to contest for the Kakamega governor seat in 2027.
