The case surrounding the mysterious death of Jeff Mwathi has taken a new turn after new CCTV footage was shown in court, showing the exact moment he fell from the 10th floor in February 2023.

It is alleged that twenty-three-year-old Mwathi collapsed to her death after a night spent with singer DJ Fatxo at his house along Barbara Thika in February 2023.
An inquest into Mwathi’s death recently revealed that Mwathi fell from Fatxo’s apartment at 5:53am, shortly after two men were arrested returning to the 10th floor.
Information shared in court showed that the two men returned to the 10th floor at 5:47 am, and Mwathi’s body would hit the ground floor at 5:53 am.
The exact time of Jeff Mwathi’s death
This information was shared by an official from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, who revealed that the time stamp on the CCTV from the ground floor was six minutes behind.
So, although it showed that Mwathi fell at 5:47 am, the actual time was 5:53 am.
Inspector General Timothy Bett also shared that Mwathi’s fall was only captured by a camera on the ground floor of the house.
CCTV analysis also showed that the deceased fell approximately 59 minutes after DJ Fatxo left the area.
The two men arrested, returning to the 10th floor, were Fatxo’s driver and cousin.

Jeff Mwathi fell from the floor
CCTV from the ground floor car park showed the shocking moment Jeff’s body landed, causing his instant death.
During cross-examination, the officer was asked to describe the position of the victim’s hands when he landed on the ground.
“The fall was very fast. But now, as the speed is reduced, the arms seem to be outstretched,” he replied.
He was asked if the position of the upper limbs indicated that he was trying to regain his balance after the fall.
“His body fell to the ground, and his front limbs were stretched out. Does that look like someone who has been pushed or someone who is trying to land safely?” lawyer Swiga asked during the detailed investigation.
Bett insisted that there was no way to make such a conclusion, as his fall was at a high speed.
“I don’t know,” he said.
Where was DJ Fatxo when Jeff Mwathi died?
As earlier reported, a Nairobi beautician explained that on the same night of Mwathi’s death, Fatxo called her at 4amasking for a hair cream he had ordered weeks earlier.
The beautician said it was the first time that Fatxo called her at 4am to ask for the product, adding that she found the call odd.
Jeff’s body would be discovered hours later on the ground floor of his apartment.
