In 2020, Raila estimated his net worth to be around Sh2 billion, with most of it invested in real estate and company stocks, rather than cash.

He explained that his wealth was small and shared among Odinga’s family, which, according to him, did not inherit much.

Among his assets was a residence in Karen, worth about Sh300 million. He also owns several properties around the country, including properties on the coast.

1. How big is Raila’s palace in the Riat Mountains?

However, his most interesting residence is in Riat Hills, County Poisonous.

In December 2021, Raila gave the public a rare look inside his luxury compound during the Christmas celebration.

The event, dubbed Father’s Christmas Wonderland, attracted hundreds of attendees. The celebration included entertainment such as bouncy castles and actors, while Raila distributed food, including biscuits, maize flour, and milk, to the community.

The complex, facing the Kisumu International Airport, is known for its attractive architecture and brown tiled roof, giving it the look of a luxury hotel.

Surrounded by a tall perimeter wall, the large property ensures privacy, and reports suggest the house has more than 50 rooms.

Raila’s daughter, Winnie, once looked at the scene while she was practicing riding a motorcycle on a field made of asphalt, with a large water tank visible in the background.

The beautiful compound has shrubs and trees, adding to its green appeal.

Aerial photos show a four-car garage within the area.

In May 2022, Raila and his wife, Ida, hosted an African Union delegation, giving the first public view of the palace’s interior.

The golden-themed living room, complete with chandeliers and matching furniture, captivated guests with its elegance and sophistication.

Observers on social media noted that the interior reflected an “old money” style, appropriate for the couple’s stature and age.

Inside Kang’o Ka Jaramogi

Elsewhere, Kang’o Ka Jaramogi there Bondothe ancestral home of the Odinga family, also serves as a cemetery and family burial ground where Raila and his son Fidel were buried.

The compound, surrounded by large trees and accessed through green gates, has many houses, including Raila’s first house, known as Simba.

Inside the grounds is the tomb of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, marked with lion statues and different pillars.

One part of the house was turned into the Jaramogi Memorial Museum, displaying his personal possessions such as hats, shoes, and bees.

Nearby is the family cemetery, where several of Odinga’s relatives are buried.
