Will ODM support Ruto in 2027?
Speaking there Bondoduring the visit of ODM leaders to the party’s acting leader, Oburu Oginga, Salah said that the party leader urged the members to remain united.
He further said that Raila had left ODM within Kenya First and he was working closely with William Ruto, insisting that things should not change.

“Baba wanted to support Ruto. I am telling you today. He said that he wanted ODM to be strong so that when we support Ruto, it can have an impact,” Oketch said.
He said that he was with Raila when they got off the plane that had left Dubai.
“Raila wanted to make ODM stronger. Baba’s goal was very clear. His support and his heart was in supporting President William Ruto. We are fully with him. Thank you very much,” he said.
During the same event, the ODM party announced that its delegates from the counties of PoisonousSiaya, Migori and Homa Bay campaigned for Oburu to succeed Raila as party leader.
They said that Oburu’s experience in politics for many years makes him able to lead the party.

Raila’s death on October 15 confused Ruto’s political strategies, forcing him to reassess his plans ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Ruto may be considering a plan to go through the MoU he signed with ODM when Raila was still alive.
This move is reported to persuade ODM members to fully establish their working relationship to ensure his survival.
One of the options that Ruto may have is to dissolve the UDA, the ruling party, to officially join ODM.
Another option he may have is to dissolve ODM and Raila’s UDA and come up with a new political party, which he would serve as the party’s flag bearer and leader.
