Video: Ugandans Visit Raila Odinga’s Grave After His Funeral and Pay Respect

The death of the former ODM party leader has continued to shock the region and Africa, attracting mourners from various walks of life.

Highly respected among his Luo community, Raila has been hailed as the greatest son of the community, comparable only to his late father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.

Mourners have continued to flock to the burial site of the former prime minister in Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, to pay their last respects.

How did the Ugandans respect Raila?

Emotions ran high at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo on Monday, October 20, when a Luo delegation from Gulu, Ugandawhen you visited the grave of the former prime minister to pay their last respects.

The group, representing Luo communities from Northern Uganda, traveled across the border to honor Raila, who they described as a symbol of unity, courage and tolerance for Luos across East Africa.

Videos shared online showed an emotional scene as the delegation performed traditional dances around Raila’s grave in Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, where his father, the first vice president of Kenya, is also buried.

The guests sang emotional songs in praise of Raila, while others waved whips and wore white headdresses.

Ang was full of sadness and pride as some mourners wiped away tears, while the guests danced in slow and responsive steps around the grave.

The leader of the delegation from Uganda said Raila’s impact transcended politics, noting that the late ODM leader was a person who united the Luos throughout the region, a person whose influence inspired generations to fight for justice and equality.

He praised Raila as a bridge that connects communities separated by colonial borders but bound together by kinship and common values.

The show, filled with the elegant culture of the Luo, was a farewell as well as a declaration of solidarity that crossed borders.

Did Uhuru return to visit Raila’s grave?

As previously reported, retired president Uhuru Kenyatta visited the grave of the former prime minister the day after his funeral there BondoSiaya county.

He arrived at the Kang’o Ka Jaramogi family museum, walked in silence to the grave, stood in prayer, and paid his respects personally accompanied by family members and a few assistants.

During the visit, Uhuru was accompanied by Raila’s elder brother, Senator Oburu Oginga, but did not speak to the media.

Later, his office issued a statement expressing condolences and honoring Odinga as a friend, brother, and patriot whose legacy has shaped Kenya’s political landscape.
