Kitui – President William Ruto paid tribute to the former prime minister, Raila Amollo Odinga, during the national celebrations of Heroes Day held in Kitui county.

In his Mashujaa Day speech at Ithookwe Stadium on Monday, October 20, the president praised Raila for his great contribution in uniting the nation.
What honor did Ruto give to Raila Odinga?
The national leader announced that under the authority of the Public Seal, he had written Raila’s name among the great heroes of the country.
“In humble recognition of Raila Amollo Odinga’s unique contribution, his shining legacy, and the immeasurable great debt of gratitude we owe him, on behalf of the Government and People of Kenya, I have the great honor to use the authority of the Public Seal of the Republic to inscribe his name among the great heroes of our nation,” he said Ruto.
In honor of Raila, the president awarded the late former prime minister with the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya, first class — Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (CGH)
“Using the authority given to me under Article 132(4)(c) of the Constitution, I award with high honor the late Raila Amollo Odinga, the honorary title of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya, First Class — Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (CGH),” the president announced.
The Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya is the highest honor in the country, and is divided into three classes:
- Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (CGH)
- Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (EGH)
- Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (MGH)
