Siaya: Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta he paid a courtesy visit to the grave of former prime minister Raila Amollo Odinga, one day after the funeral which took place in the family cemetery in Bondo.

His visit was a personal sign of respect and memory for a close friend whose death deeply touched the retired president.

When did Raila Odinga die?

Raila died on Wednesday, October 15, due to a heart attack while receiving treatment in India. He was buried with national honors and a full military parade.

Thousands of mourners from all corners of the country gathered to say goodbye to the opposition leader who had a great contribution in building the foundations of democracy in Kenya.

In a video shared by NTV KenyaUhuru was seen beside the grave with people believed to be his close relatives.

He stopped briefly to pray, stretched his hand towards the grave before leaving.

Another photo showed him in a friendly conversation with Senator Oburu Oginga, Raila’s elder brother, inside the family home.

What did Uhuru say during Raila’s funeral?

During the funeral service on Sunday, October 19, Uhuru gave a touching speech expressing his grief and respect for Raila for his lifelong service to Kenya and Africa.

He recognized Raila as a leader who helped unite the nation and commended him for his wisdom, understanding, and legacy that lives on.

Uhuru also apologized to the ODM party and the people of Siaya.

He recognized Raila as a national hero whose contribution will continue to inspire future generations.

“Finally, it is to pray for our brother as he begins his last journey. May God guide him. We will miss you, Jakom, as a friend, brother, and father of this nation. We will miss your wisdom, your wisdom, and your humor. Your actions will live forever, and I pray that we remember you in action,” he said.
