Ruto Reveals He Had No Political Agreement With The Late Raila Odinga Regarding The 2027 Election

Siaya – President William Ruto has given details about his agreement with the late leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Raila Odinga.

Speaking at the grounds of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) there BondoRuto narrated how he approached Raila after the highly contested 2022 General Election.

What did Ruto agree with Raila Odinga?

According to Ruto, his conversation with the former prime minister was not about the 2027 General Election.

The national leader revealed that his main goal was to ensure that Raila was taken care of for his great contribution in serving the nation.

Ruto said that in their conversation, he had no problem if Raila decided to support another candidate or run for the presidency in 2027.

“I can say that a few months after the election, I reached out to Baba and made a request to correct the mistakes that had been made against him. I told him without any conditions that I would do whatever he wanted me to do. That is why today, ODM is part of the government. I told Raila Odinga, if you decide to run for president in 2027 or support someone else, I want us to work together,” Ruto revealed.

Will ODM and UDA unite in 2027?

The country’s leader also promised to ensure that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party remains strong towards the next election.
Ruto hinted at the possibility of political cooperation between ODM and his party United Democratic Alliance (UDA) after insisting that Raila’s party will be part of the next government.

“I know I am the leader of UDA, but the future, strength and prosperity of ODM is very important to me. I assure you that we will respect and support that party as we move towards 2027, to either form the next government or be part of it,” he said.

Ruto said the former ODM leader’s vision of a peaceful, democratic and inclusive Kenya should guide the country even after his death.

“Raila’s contribution to the unity of our nation and the struggle to maintain democracy will not be forgotten. Our responsibility now is to build on that foundation and make Kenya stronger,” said the president.
