Nairobi – The sound of mourning will be heard at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport following the arrival of the body of the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Raila Odinga.

The plane carrying Raila’s coffin landed at JKIA airport at 9.30 am on Thursday, October 16.
Who received Raila Odinga’s body at JKIA?
The body has been received by the President William Ruto and Raila’s close family members, led by Oburu Oginga.
Former president Uhuru Kenyatta and other senior government officials were also at JKIA to receive Raila’s body.
When Raila’s body landed, many of his supporters wearing branded shirts were seen crying in public.
Emotional scenes unfolded as followers mourned, prayed and comforted each other, overcome by the weight of the moment.
Where will Raila’s body be taken from JKIA?
From JKIA, Raila’s remains will be taken to Lee Funeral Home, and later in the afternoon, Raila will lie in state for public viewing.
At 12.00 noon, the body will be moved to the Parliament building in the main area of Nairobi to be viewed by the public.
There will also be public mourning areas where Kenyans can watch the proceedings across the country.
5:00 pm – Raila’s body is returned to Lee Funeral Home. On Friday, October 17, a national funeral service will be held at Nyayo Stadium, which is expected to be attended by leaders and health workers from outside Kenya.
After the event, the body will be moved to Raila Karen’s home for overnight stay.
