While many offered their condolences and sent happy messages to the hero’s family, some Kenyans also remembered his dedicated bodyguard, Maurice Ogeta.
Ogeta has been at Raila’s side for years, walking with him everywhere and providing protection. This loyalty continued even in the minutes leading up to the death of the former Prime Minister, and beyond.
Two emotional videos have gone viral on social media following Raila’s death, capturing Ogeta’s unwavering presence.
Maurice Ogeta was with Raila before death?
The first video, undated, shows the security guard walking patiently behind the resting hero, who appears to be in hospital.

In the second video, taken after Raila passed away, Ogeta was caught getting out of the ambulance carrying Raila’s body from Devamatha Hospital.
Covering his head with a hat, perhaps to hide the sadness on his face, the man who dedicated his life to serving the late veteran politician gets out of the ambulance and follows the body.
Many have comforted Ogeta, acknowledging the great pain he must be going through, after witnessing all that happened.
Netizens console Maurice Ogeta
Netizens showed sympathy and comfort to Ogeta, acknowledging the difficult situation he is enduring after witnessing the events.
Cyprian Nyakundi:
“I’m so sorry, Maurice Ogeta. More than just a protector, you were a shadow, a shield, and a friend. Walking beside Dad in the morning, and then walking behind his coffin – life can be so cruel. Few will understand that kind of grief. May God give you strength in this new chapter and peace for every silent memory that now follows you.”

Brian Oduor: “Above everything else in any relationship, value honesty. Maurice Ogeta lived by this principle throughout his journey as the greatest leader who ever lived. It will be good. Ali Sabato: “May his soul rest in peace. Raila will be remembered for many good things. He would speak what many were afraid to say. I remember him speaking about the children of Palestine, saying publicly, without fear, that Palestine should be free and wanting international laws to be respected by Netanyahu and his administration. He was truly the voice of the voiceless in this country. He opposed everyone’s constitution. Father Rest in peace, our old man May God rest your heart in peace and goodness.”
