India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has led the respects of the international community following the death of Raila Odingathe former Prime Minister of Kenya and a long -term opposition leader.

The ODM chief died while receiving treatment in India after visiting the nation two weeks ago.
Why did Raila travel to India for treatment?
In a sincere statement, Modi referred to Raila as a ‘vibrant politician and a favorite of Indian friend,’ recalling the personal relationship that began during the Gujarat Prime Minister.
“He had a special will for India-our culture, morals and wisdom of the past,” Modi said. “This was reflected in his efforts to strengthen India’s relationship with Kenya. He was very pleased with Ayurveda and traditional medicine systems, after witnessing his positive impact on his daughter’s health.”
Modi sent his condolences to the Raila family, friends, and Kenyan people, citing the ‘most sad loss.’

Abiy Ahmed
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed expressed his solidarity with Kenya, recognizing Raila’s role in promoting regional cooperation and peace across East Africa.
“On behalf of the Ethiopian government, I send my condolences to the departure of former Kenyan prime minister Raila Odinga. He should rest in peace,” Ahmed said.
Samia Solution
President of Tanzania Samia Solution Hassan He expressed deep sadness following Raila’s death, referring to him as a prominent leader, Pan-Africanist, a peacekeeper and a coalition seeker whose influence spread far beyond Kenya’s borders.
“We have lost a vibrant leader whose love and effects were seen not only in Kenya but throughout East Africa and the rest of the continent. This is not the only loss of Kenya – it is ours,” the solution said.
On behalf of the Government and the citizens of the United Republic of Tanzania, he sent condolences to the President William RutoMama Ida Odinga, Raila’s family and all Kenyans.

“We join you in prayer, asking Allah to give them comfort, strength, and faith in this difficult time, and rest the spirit of our beloved Raila in eternal peace,” he added.
Hakainde Hichilema
Zambia’s president Hakainde Hichilema also mourned Raila’s death, referring to him as a ‘main advocate of democracy’ whose influence crossed the border.
“I am saddened to hear the death of former prime minister Raila Odinga. We send our condolences to the people of Kenya, the family of Raila, President William Ruto, and all who were touched by this great defender of democracy. His legacy will last. He should rest in eternal peace,” Hichilema said.
Ismail Omar
Djibouti’s president, Ismail Omar, sent his condolences to the Raila family.
The honors emphasize Raila’s influence outside the borders of Kenya, where he was highly respected for his commitment to bring about democratic reform, infrastructure development, and the continental unity.
