Nairobi – President William Ruto has convened a special national security meeting in the White House following the death of the ODM leader Raila Odinga.

According to the White House, the session was scheduled for 10:30 am, followed by a special cabinet session at 2:30 pm.
Kenya’s National Security Council (BMT) is the highest authority on national security, responsible for managing security agencies and integrating internal, foreign and military policies.
Led by the President, members of the council include Deputy President, Secretariat of the relevant Cabinet, Attorney General, Chief of the Kenyan Defense Forces, Director-General of the National Intelligence Service, and Inspector-General of the National Police Service.
Its responsibilities include evaluating national security capabilities, deploying national forces, and reporting annually to Parliament

The meetings are part of the government’s official consultation on national mourning plans, considering the position held by Raila in the political atmosphere in the country.
Elsewhere, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula He adjourned the session on Wednesday morning in the National Assembly.
The Speaker of Parliament told Parliament that he would provide important contacts during the daytime session.
