The Swahili newspaper reported how the parents of Litein Boys’ High School students are facing huge fines following a violent strike that shook the school in September 2025.

Following a meeting between the Chairman of the Management Board (BOM), the leaders of the Parent Association (PTA), and officials of the Ministry of Education, it was decided that parents would pay KSh 69 million to finance the damage, while the PTA and BOM donate KSh 30 million more. The total cost of the damage is estimated at KSh 99,962,450.

Each of the 1,400 student mentioned in violence has been fined KSh 49,699, and the payment should be made by October 6, 2025, to facilitate repairs before students return to school.
