Kericho: Parents of students at Litein Boys’ High School are faced with huge fines following a strike that shook the school in September 2025.

The school has announced that parents will pay a total of KSh 69 million to finance damage, while the Parent and Teachers’ Association (PTA) and the Board of Management (BOM) contribute to KSh 30 million more.

How much will every Litein Boys student pay?

According to Daily Nationthe total cost of damage was estimated at KSh 99,962,450.

The decision was reached after a session involving the Chairman of the BOM, PTA leaders and officials from the Ministry of Education.

Each of the 1,400 students mentioned to be involved in the violence was fined KSh 49,699, which is paid by October 6, 2025 to help repair before students return to school.

In addition, the board decided that all unpaid fees must be paid before they were allowed to return to school.

Students must accompany their parents, and then a public meeting will be held.

When will Litein Boys High School open?

The school has issued a phase opening schedule: Secondary students will report on October 9, Form Three October 13, and Form Four on October 16.

The head of the school, Richard Sang, who is also the Secretary of the Bom, said the second and third -grade students would bring only bags and sheets, while fourth -year students needed to carry all their property.

The incident, which surprised the country, led to the arrest of eight students who are now facing charges of burning, theft and intentional property damage.

Previously, the violence was linked to allegations that the school refused to allow students to watch the Premier League match.

However, the following investigation revealed that the violence may have been caused by allegations that the school leadership refused to cooperate with gangs associated with KCSE exams.

What happened during the Litein Boys students’ strike?

Previously, TUKO.co.ke reported that students were accused of invading a female teacher’s house inside the school and found it badly damaged.

His items had been thrown out, and some important items including the gas stove were lost.

Sad reports were revealed later during a meeting with parents that some students took the teacher’s underwear and wore them on their head as they ran into the stadium, a surprise act that left teachers and parents in shock and frustration.

The incident has sparked anger in the community, with many wondering about the moral and discipline of the students involved.

After the meeting, the students appeared to mark plans to make another strike, which forced the school to be closed again.
