What Kenyans did Ruto appoint as diplomats?

Former Labor Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore is among the nominees.

He has been appointed to serve as Kenya’s Chief Commissioner in Namibia, in Windhoek.

Others are Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri, Kenyan Ambassador to Turkey, Lucy Kiruthu (Ambassador to Thailand) and Henry Wambuma (Ambassador to Burundi), Abdirashid Salat Abdille (Ambassador to Indonesia), Joseph Musyoka Masila (Ambassador to Saudi Arabia) and Edwin Afande.

The president also appointed two senior ambassadors; Jayne Jepkorir (Dubai, UAE) and Judy Kheria Nkumiri (Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo).

The nomination came several weeks after the nominees were investigated by the National Assembly Committee on Defense, Intelligence and Foreign Relations, led by Belgut MP Nelson Koech.

What other appointment will William Ruto make?

At the same time, the president made three nominations in two independent entities.

Ruto appointed John Cox Loronokou to be the Registrar of Political Parties and Agatha Wahome Assistant Registrar of Political Parties, all will serve for six years.

Lorioinkou is taking over from Anne Nderitu, who resigned to join the process of hiring the Commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Elsewhere, the President appointed Claris Ogangah to be the Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission of Kenya (KNCHR).

Ogangah will serve for six years in the post. He becomes KNCHR’s Chief Chairman following the death of Roseline Odede earlier this year.

The filling of the post of the KNCHR chairman was reduced after the original Ruto nominee rejected the job.

The president was calm for Dancun Ojwang as chairman of the commission.

However, Ojwang rejected the appointment, citing personal reasons and the possibility of conflict of interest as his basis for the decision.

He rejected the offer a few days before being examined by the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee.

Day the DRC opposed Ruto’s appointment to be a member

The appointment of the diplomats comes several weeks after the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) rejected one Ruto appointment.

Ruto appointed Judy Kaia to serve as a minority ambassador to the affected area of eastern DRC.

He was supposed to be placed in Goma.

In an official statement, the DRC’s Foreign Minister Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner expressed sadness and that the Kenyan president had not consulted with Kinshasa before making the appointment.

In the absence of stability in Goma, the DRC insisted that Kenya had to coordinate its government before mentioning the ambassador.

Kinshasa emphasized that any appointment related to Goma requires preliminary consultation with the DRC authorities.

The minister announced that Ruto’s appointment was invalid until appropriate diplomatic protocols were followed, to confirm his country’s authority.

However, Kinshasa expressed a willingness to participate in talks with Kenya to resolve disagreement.
