Bomet: Police have arrested a suspect found selling flamingo meat to the hotel

  • Health officials in Bomet County made a sudden visit to a hotel operating in the city for inspection

According to the Bomet County government, the man was arrested after being discovered by county health officials.

How was the owner of the Bomet hotel arrested?

In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 24, the Department of Public Services, led by Chief Health Officer Felix Langat and Public Health Director Leonard Lang’at, made a sudden visit to the hotel.

They said that they discovered flamingo meat, a common tasty in the restaurant, and raised concerns about the health of consumers.

“They visited a hotel operating in the city of Bomet for inspection and found flamingo meat, which has been sold to its residents,” the statement read in part.

They discovered the flamingo meat that had been released recently, thus raising serious concerns of public health.

Was the owner of the Bomet Hotel arrested?

Following the discovery, the owner of the hotel was placed in custody, waiting to be dealt with and brought to court.

“The suspect has been arrested for allegedly selling flamingo following a vigorous operation conducted earlier today by county officials,” they added.

Chief Officer Langat issued a stern warning to the food business, advising them against engaging in illegal and unsafe meat distribution.

He promised further enhanced monitoring and effective implementation, aimed at controlling the food industry and ensuring the sale of good food.

Bomet man was arrested for selling dog meat

This is not the first time a man from Bomet is caught selling illegal meat.

In an earlier incident, Sotik residents raised concerns after a man found 15 kg of dog meat.

The 38 -year -old man had fully loaded the meat in a plastic gun bag during his arrest.

Police officers arrested him after Sotik Suburb Madam Emma’s assistant to address concerns raised by local residents who criticized that a man was distributing suspicious meat in the Chemagel and Kimase Buch.

Kigen, a suspect, was charged with killing a dog and trying to sell his meat to customers who had no information.

In an interview, Kigen allegedly admitted to doing the act while explaining that he had plans to sell the meat without explaining the source.

The department of livestock in the county was called to assist in further analysis of meat samples.
