Benedict Kabiru: NPS confirms the death of an officer who disappeared during Operation in Haiti

The National Police Service (NPS) has confirmed the death of Benedict Kabiru, a Kenyan officer who disappeared in March this year taking part in a security operation in Haiti.

The officer was among the Kenyan soldiers who were transported to Haiti as part of the International Security Assistance Mission in Haiti (MSS) to prevent chaos in the Caribbean country.

He reportedly disappeared on March 26, a day after an attack on soldiers in the main distribution route of Carrefour Paye-Savien in the Pont-Sonde area.

Efforts to find him began as the months passed anonymously.

The search for Kabiru was conducted by MSS colleagues in partnership with the Haiti National Police (HNP).

Meanwhile, his family in Kenya was reported about his disappearance, while NPS continued to contact them during a search.

The search would continue for a long time, with the family’s fears confirmed many months later.

In an official statement on Thursday, September 25, the police service confirmed the officer had been found dead.

It brought the sad news to the officer’s family.

“In a sad situation, the National Police Service (NPS) received information about the death of a lost police officer, and the family has been notified,” read the NPS statement in part.

The ritual was pleased with the Kabiru family following a sad end of months after leaving the country.

“NPS offers his sincere and sincere condolences to family, friends, and colleagues of the dead officer and guarantees his unstable and ongoing support at this time of great sadness. Meanwhile, the MSSM continues to work in partnership with the Haitian National Police (HNP) on this issue and will provide more updates as the situation goes on,” NPS continues.
