Trans Nzoia: Mama Vegetables will seek KSh 3.5m to be allowed to take her son’s body to sell

Trans Nzoia, Kenya: Mercy Chepchumba, a vegetarian, mourns her son, who was being treated for brain injuries after a fatal accident was about to lose his life.

Bethwel Kipkosgei was involved in an accident on May 17, 2025, and spent three months in the intensive care unit (ICU) at the Top Hill Hospital struggling with brain injuries.

Despite the efforts of doctors, Bethwel passed away on July 27, 2025.

“Now, her sad mother is left with the Ksh Hospital Bill. 3.5 million and the rising fee of the corpse.

As a humble vegetable mother, she cannot control this burden alone, ” Said Alfred Koech, who published the story on Facebook.
