- New reports have emerged about the death of Simon Warui, who died at the Mombasa police station

Mombasa – Simon Warui’s controversial investigation into the police cell has taken on a new dimension following the emergence of a video clip.
The Independent Police Managing Authority (IPOA) confirmed that it had begun an investigation into the death of Warui in the hands of the police.
What does Simon Warui death report say
IPOA chairman Ahmed Issack Hassan confirmed that the death of Warui took place on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at the Police Station, Mvita sub -county in Mombasa.
According to a corpse examination report, the death of the Warui was due to the collapse of the cardiovascular system due to the breakdown and neck.

“We have received a report of a corpse examination that identifies the cause of death due to a collapse of the cardiovascular system due to a neck breakdown which is similar to falling from height,” IPOA said.
Meanwhile, Human Rights activist and CEO of Voices of Community Activists and Leaders of Africa (Vocal Africa), Hussein Khalid, said police said they had no CCTV cameras to show exactly what happened, causing the death of Warui.
“As for Simon Warui, following our request for yesterday’s release of CCTV photos, we have now heard that the police have said there is no CCTV camera in the area where Simon is alleged to have died,” Khalid said.
Is there blood in the cells that Simon Warui died?
According to a previous police report, the deceased climbed toilets before jumping down, causing his death.
However, Khalid said his team found a video showing where the incident allegedly occurred.

While questioning the police statement, Khalid said the cell that Warui allegedly died had a normal height, making it difficult to measure and fall to death.
Video seen by TUKO.co.ke showed blood stains spread to the cell floor, whose floor is tile.
